THESE ARE THE HELMETS WORN FROM 1974-1975

Quite possible the biggest fiasco of all professional football Leagues, The WFL completed 1 year (barely) before it came back again the next year only to fold 13 weeks into a 20 week schedule. Some of these colors could have only came from the 1970's! My only complaint is that their never was an avocado green helmet like the color of my parents refrigerator from that era. So I decided to make my own WFL team, the Colorado Peak. I incorporated the aforementioned avocado green into the color scheme of this fictional team, kept the tradition of non-plural nicknames and those odd extra thick stripes! Also, the WFL logo only found on the back of the 1974 helmets!

Charlotte Hornets folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
Chicago Winds replaced the Chicago Fire and folded after 5 games into the 1975 season
The Hawaiians folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
Jacksonville Express replaced the Jacksonville Sharks and folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
Memphis Southmen folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
. Memphis was also known as the Memphis Grizzlies Philadelphia Bell folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
Portland Thunder replaced the Portland Storm and folded after 11 games into the 1975 season
San Antonio Wings were the Florida Blazers for 1974 and folded after 13 games into the 1975 season
Shreveport Steamer folded after 12 games into the 1975 season
Southern California Sun folded after 12 games into the 1975 season

Charlotte Stars were a 1 game team, in transition, between the New York Stars becoming the Charlotte Hornets
Chicago Fire folded after the 1974 season. They were replaced by the Chicago Winds for 1975
Detroit Wheels folded after 14 games into the 1974 season
Florida Blazers were the Washington Ambassadors and then the Virginia Ambassadors before the 1974 season. They became the San Antonio Wings for 1975
Houston Texans became the Shreveport Steamer after 11 games into the 1974 season
Jacksonville Sharks folded after 14 games into the 1974 season. They were replaced by the Jacksonville Express for 1975
